Epic Central America: Seven Countries

GUATEMALA – HONDURAS – EL SALVADOR – NICARAGUA – COSTA RICA – PANAMA

Day 01: Arrival at La Aurora International Airport and transfer to Antigua City.
Day 02: Visit Antigua Guatemala, a colonial city declared by UNESCO “Cultural Heritage of Humankind”. We begin in Antigua’s Historic Centre, starting from the Main Plaza and visiting the main monuments of the city.
Day 03: Take a unique opportunity and walk through the Pacaya Volcano, where you will see the stony ash and dry lava at the top. After we drive to Panajachel, situated at the edge of Lake Atitlán. During the final descend from Solola to Panajachel, experience amazing views of Lake Atitlán.
Day 04: Board a private boat for a full day tour of the lake. We visit 3 of the 12 villages surrounding the lake. We start in San Juan La Laguna, famous for its coffee plantations and handmade traditional textiles. Afterwards we will visit Santiago Atitlan where we try to locate Maximon. Afternoon visit of San Antonio Palopo.
Day 05: The colorful market in Chichicastenango (only Thursday or Sunday) attracts venders and buyers from the entire Highland region. Stroll through hundreds of stands and visit the Santo Thomas church. Back to Guatemala City.
Day 06: Early flight to Flores. Visit of the most important archeological Mayan site in Guatemala. The Tikal site forms part of the 575 square kilometer National Park Tikal and is enclosed by vast and pristine rainforest. The jungle with a never-ending variety of trees, plants and wildlife is as impressive as the temples and sculptures.
Day 07: We continue to the site of Quiriguá. Declared by UNESCO “Cultural Heritage of Humankind”, in Quiriguá we will see the Stelae C carved in 776 AD. After the visit we continue to Copan. Day 07: Transfer to the Izabal department (distance 220 km; 3.5 hours on the way) to the most picturesque river of Guatemala – Rio Dulce. Admire the lush tropical forest, hundreds of birds and the impressive Río Dulce Canyon.
Day 08: We continue to the site of Quiriguá. Declared by UNESCO “Cultural Heritage of Humankind”, in Quiriguá we will see the Stelae C carved in 776 AD. After the visit we continue to Copan.
Day 09: Visit to one of the most impressive sites in the Maya World: Copán. Copán presents a sophisticated architectural style and a unique art for stone carving. Visit the plazas, complexes and monuments, as well as the Sculpture Museum with a replica of the Rosalila Temple. Transfer to San Salvador.
Day 10: We will visit the very interesting historical center of San Salvador, visit the El Rosario church with a modern and very colorful design, the national palace, the national theater and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Then, Joya de Ceren and San Andres are the main archaeological sites that we will discover on this tour. In this tour we will observe this fact closely. The Mayans are known to have developed complex societies with impressive temples in the Mesoamerican area. Transfer to La Union.
Day 11: Transfer to the La Union to take a Ferry to Nicaragua. Then we will drive to the city of Leon. Just before arriving, we will visit the Pompey of Nicaragua, the old city of Leon to see the first city built by the Spanish people in 1524 and abandoned in 1610 because of the volcanic eruptions of Momotombo volcano. After this stop we will continue to the new city of Leon where will visit the biggest church in Central America, the Ruben Dario Museum, the Ortiz Gurdian Museum and the Murals of the Revolution. Tranfer to Granada. Transfer to Managua.
Day 12: Begin your journey in the city of Managua, where we will present you the culture and history of Nicaragua through museums, parks and historic sites of the capital of the Republic. Then we will travel to the Masaya Volcano National Park, the first and largest national park in the country to observe the impressive Volcano Masaya and visit its active crater. Transfer to Granada known as the oldest colonial city of Mainland America, has survived pirate’s attacks, civil wars, fires and more in its rich history, since its foundation in 1524.
Day 13: Transfer to the border with Costa Rica. Transfer to Arenal Volcano. Enjoy the majestic Arenal Volcano with a series of hiking trails that brings you through forested areas and across some of the historic lava fields that buried much of the surrounding jungle during the dramatic eruptions of 1992.
Day 14: Home to more than 200 speices of rare bird, Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is one of the most biologically rich wetlands in the world. Many mammals and reptiles can also be spotted around the freshwater lagoon, making it one of Costa Rica's best wildlife-watching destinations.
Day 15: Enjoy the lake crossing boat transfer to Monteverde and its unique rural Quaker/Tico community. Get a different perspective of the cloud forest, as you literally fly through it on a ¨Zip Line¨ Canopy Tour! You will also visit the Hanging Bridges.
Day 16: Transfer to Manuel Antonio. In the way boating while birdwatching, observing crocodiles, and enjoying the lush flora and diverse fauna on the Tarcoles River.
Day 17: Explore the pristine natural beauty of the world famous Manuel Antonio National Park filled with exotic wildlife such as monkeys, sloths, birds, reptiles and butterflies.
Day 18: Continue to Sixaola Border with Panama and transfer to Boquete.
Day 19: Go to the highest point of Panama on this exhilarating Jeep 4x4 tour of Barú Volcano. On a clear day, this chilly volcano peak offers incredible views of both the Caribbean and Pacific. Bundle up and get ready for the off-roading experience of a lifetime.
Day 20: Early flight to Panama City. Panama City Tour & the Panama Canal starts out with a fascinating visit to the Miraflores Locks Visitor Center. You will then continue to the Biodiversity Museum Continue for lunch to the Casco Viejo historical part of town.
Day 21: A perfect opportunity to visit an indigenous village in the midst of an exceptionally wonderful natural setting that supports in harmony their lifestyle and traditions. The Embera indigenous people still live today as many decades ago in their original homes deep in the Darien. Late this afternoon transfer to the Pacific Riviera.
Day 22-23: Relax on the beach.
Day 24: Private transfer to Tocumen International. Airport.
