Day 01: Arrival at La Aurora International Airport and transfer to Antigua City.
Day 02: Visit Antigua Guatemala, a colonial city declared by UNESCO “Cultural Heritage of
Humankind”. We
begin in Antigua’s Historic Centre, starting from the Main Plaza and visiting the main monuments of the
city.
Day 03: Take a unique opportunity and walk through the Pacaya Volcano, where you will see
the stony ash and
dry lava at the top. After we drive to Panajachel, situated at the edge of Lake Atitlán. During the final
descend from Solola to Panajachel, experience amazing views of Lake Atitlán.
Day 04: Board a private boat for a full day tour of the lake. We visit 3 of the 12 villages
surrounding the
lake. We start in San Juan La Laguna, famous for its coffee plantations and handmade traditional textiles.
Afterwards we will visit Santiago Atitlan where we try to locate Maximon. Afternoon visit of San Antonio
Palopo.
Day 05: The colorful market in Chichicastenango (only Thursday or Sunday) attracts venders
and buyers from
the entire Highland region. Stroll through hundreds of stands and visit the Santo Thomas church. Back to
Guatemala City.
Day 06: Transfer to the greenest and rainiest department in Guatemala, Alta Verapaz. Not
far from Coban is
the Nature Reserve of Quetzal, which was created to protect the Quetzal bird, that was considered a sacred
bird for the Mayan civilization. After the hike in the park transfer to Lanquin.
Day 07: Today we will visit one of the most beautiful places in Guatemala, Semuc Champey -
a series of
small, beautiful, natural ponds and pools. In Mayan Keqchi, Semuc Champey means Sacred Water.
Day 08: Today we will go to the northernmost department of Guatemala, Peten. On the way we
will see a unique
cave. Candelaria Cave (30km.) is one of the most important caves in this region. For the ancient Mayans this
cave served as an entrance to the underworld of Xibalba.
Day 09: Morning visit of the most important archeological Mayan site in Guatemala.
The Tikal site forms part of the 575 square kilometer National Park Tikal and is enclosed by vast and
pristine rainforest.
Day 10: Transfer to the Izabal department to the most picturesque river of Guatemala – Rio
Dulce. Admire the
lush tropical forest, hundreds of birds and the impressive Río Dulce Canyon.
Day 11: Playa Blanca, a white sand beach, accessible only by a 30-minute boat ride from
Livingston, to relax
and enjoy the sun and sea. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 12: We continue to the town of Copán Ruinas. Visit to one of the most impressive sites
in the Maya
World: Copán.
Day 13: Transfer to Guatemala City
Day 14: Private transfer to the airport in Guatemala City.
